Done There? Come Here!

Having a Late Hour Liquor license allows us to stay open for an additional two hours past the normal legal closing time of 2am for most bars in Chicago. At Jefferson Tap, we’re open until 4am on Thursday night and Friday night and 5am on Saturday night. The Late Hour Liquor license allows us to stay open until 4am Sunday night through Wednesday night as well AND, if there’s a crowd, we will! If you’ve got a big group and want the party to keep going late night give us a call (even if it’s 1:30am)!

If you are coming in with a big group (and we know), we’ll stay open LATE! Jefferson Tap is THE place in the Fulton Market area for LATE NIGHT FUN!

WHAT TIME DO BARS CLOSE IN CHICAGO?

Most bars have a Tavern license or a “Consumption on Premises-Incidental Activity License” (aka COP or Consumption license). According to the City of Chicago, “The closing hour under a standard Consumption or Tavern liquor license is 2 am, Monday through Saturday, and 3 am on Sunday.” This can be extended by 2 hours if a bar has a secondary license called a Late Hour Liquor License.

This allows bars like Jefferson Tap to stay open late. Jefferson Tap is a “4am bar” because we don’t need to close when bars with a Tavern License close. In case you’re wondering, the law says as a bar with a Late Hour License, Jefferson Tap closes at 5am on Sunday. We like to say that means your Saturday night fun can go into Sunday morning!

Do 4am Bars Still Serve Food?

We don't know what other 4AM bars do, but at Jefferson Tap, our kitchen is on until midnight Sunday through Thursday and until 3am on Friday and Saturdays. If you’re looking for late night beer and pizza or a burger at 2am Saturday night, we’ve got you covered! Stop in for late night food in Chicago any day of the week!
